Your Photos Stay Yours — Always
VisualConvert exists for one stubborn reason: we got tired of image converters that treat "upload your file" as the innocent first step. Behind that button, most online tools ship your personal photos — passports, medical scans, private snapshots — to a server you will never see, in a country you did not choose, to be processed and, too often, quietly retained. We built the opposite.
The moment it started
The idea began with a small, ordinary betrayal. A friend needed to convert a scan of an ID for a form, ran it through a "free" web converter, and only afterwards read the fine print granting that site a licence to store and reuse the upload. The file was already gone. That is the model the whole category is built on, and it is backwards. Your photos should never have to leave your device just to change their format.
Our mission, in one sentence
Do the entire job on your own machine, so your files never travel and there is nothing for anyone — including us — to leak, sell or lose.
Everything else about VisualConvert follows from that. No upload queue. No "processing on our servers." No watermark quietly advertising where your image has been. Just a tool that runs where your files already live: inside your own browser.
How it actually works
This is not a claim we ask you to take on faith — it is an architecture you can inspect.
- The Canvas API does the pixel-level work. Your browser has decoded, resized and re-encoded images natively for years; we simply point that built-in engine at your file and let it convert in local memory.
- WebAssembly handles the formats browsers do not speak on their own — most notably HEIC from iPhones. A compiled decoder runs inside the page, at near-native speed, without ever calling home.
- Service Workers cache the app itself, which is why VisualConvert keeps working after the page has loaded even if you switch your Wi-Fi off. A converter that runs with no connection is a converter that cannot be secretly uploading anything.
Want proof? Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and convert a file. You will watch it happen with zero upload requests. The file simply never moves.
No tracking, by design
We do not run advertising trackers or third-party profiling scripts that follow you around the web. We are not in the business of building a dossier on you, because the entire point of the product is that we do not want your data in the first place.
The team
VisualConvert is built and maintained by a small, privacy-obsessed group of engineers who would rather ship a tool they would trust with their own family photos than chase yours for resale. As we grow, this page will introduce the people behind it by name — but the principle will not change: your photos stay yours, always.
