Our Privacy Promise — We Can't See Your Files (Even If We Wanted To)
Most privacy policies ask you to trust a promise. Ours rests on something sturdier: an architecture that makes the promise physically true. When you convert an image on VisualConvert, the file is processed entirely inside your own browser and is never transmitted to us. We could not hand over, sell or lose your photos even if compelled to, because we never receive them in the first place.
This page is written to be accurate to how the site actually works. If you are adopting VisualConvert in a regulated setting, please have your own counsel review it against your obligations.
1. Your files never leave your device
Image conversion, compression, resizing and PDF creation all run locally using your browser's Canvas API and WebAssembly. The file you drop in is loaded into your device's memory, transformed there, and handed back to you as a download. No copy is uploaded, cached on a server, or retained anywhere by us.
You do not have to take our word for it. Open your browser's developer tools (F12), select the Network tab, and convert a file. You will see no upload request for your image — because there is none.
Our background remover uses the MODNet photographic portrait matting model, running entirely in your browser via ONNX Runtime Web. The model file is cached locally for 30 days. Your images never leave your device.
2. What we do and do not collect
For conversions: nothing. We collect no file contents, no file names, and no image metadata. There is nothing for us to collect, because that work never reaches us.
If you create an account or subscribe, we store the limited information needed to provide those features:
- Your name and email address, so you can sign in and we can contact you about your account.
- A securely hashed password — we never store the password itself and cannot read it.
- Subscription status and payment records processed through PayPal. Card details are handled by PayPal, not by us; we never see or store your full card number.
- Basic account activity, such as your last sign-in time, kept to operate the service and guard against abuse.
Basic, privacy-respecting analytics. We keep simple aggregate counts — for example, how many conversions happen — to understand usage and improve the tool. We do not use them to build an advertising profile of you.
3. Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage to remember your preferences — dark or light mode, quality defaults, and session counters — all of which stay on your device. If you sign in, a secure authentication cookie keeps you logged in. We do not set third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
4. Third parties
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. The only third party involved in the core experience is PayPal, and only when you choose to subscribe, purely to process that payment. Your image files are shared with no one, ever, because they never leave your browser.
5. Your control
Because conversions store nothing, there is nothing to delete there. For account data, you can update your details or request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us. Clearing your browser's storage removes every local preference this site has saved.
6. Contact us about privacy
